South Beach day 2 isn't so bad (and it's already 10:55 am!!!). I feel like I'm losing a ton of water weight, and I haven't had a drink in 24 hours! The Rick Bayless Mexican cookbook proved to be a fortuitous read...the first chapter or so details his weight struggles and ensuing epiphany that eating right, not dieting, is the key. I knew I'd like that book. I first discovered it while in San Miguel de Allende a few weeks ago. I stayed in a villa stocked with random paperbacks and "Falling in Love with San Miguel" was the one I picked up and didn't put down till we left. The women in the book--Phoenix transplants who moved to San Miguel--often went to the local markets to shop for ingredients to make recipes from Bayless's book. So I figured it was a winner. I am having a love affair with San Miguel and so anything associated with it just impels the crush and makes the heart flutter. Cookbooks included. Day two of "back to the gym" went well. Spin classes both days at max heart rate. Wow. I kick ass at spinning. Now if that would just transfer to a little chub loss.
